| So I waited patiently… The engraved iPad came from Shenzhen, Hong Kong, Anchorage, Louisville, but at the appointed hour, whisked its way back to Anchorage. I received the new iPad on March 16, and took a quick look at comparing to the original iPad and the iPad 2. [...] I watched Engadget’s live blog, and finally was able to order my “new” iPad… Well two of them… [...] After almost a year since the last post, I decided I don’t want this blog to rot on the vine. This first post is about webcams and publishing them to Weather Undergound. [...] Well, curiosity about Android finally got the better of me. More so, that curiosity was prompted by a call from ACS that said I could have a “free” Milestone. This is the US CDMA version of the Verizon Droid for small carriers, including Alaska Communications. [...] Revisiting the iPad… Not that I have forgotten, or otherwise haven’t used this device, I thought more along the lines of “how” I use it. So, after all this time, I find that I don’t use 3G. I didn’t even “subscribe” this last month, and barely used tens of megabytes out of the 2GB I receive for $25USD from AT&T. [...] I went to the Alaska Native Heritage Center this afternoon. On the bill was Arvel Bird. I saw him at the Mohican Pow-wow back in September in Loudenville, Ohio. When I met him, I mentioned being from Alaska. He said he would be in Alaska sometime in mid-November. He wasn’t sure of the location at the time, and we parted ways. [...] Been a nice vacation so far… Arrived after an almost full day of travel from Anchorage to East Liverpool. The flight actually isn’t bad, except for the plane change in Phoenix. Seems like it is a mad dash from the end of one terminal, to the end of another. Oh well… Had a nice visit on [...] [...] Ok, so I never used the BT keyboard with the iPad. Shame on me. It looks like I didn’t know what I was missing… Hey, speaking of “missing”…! [...] When I saw the iPad in Anchorage, I thought I might have a chance to snag it today. My fear was I would try to out guess UPS and sit at the office all day waiting, when they had no intention of showing because they “knew” the office was closed on Saturday. However, I watched closely, looking for “news” that it was on the truck for delivery, just like (my favorite) FedEx does. Well, when it didn’t show for a few hours, I really quit watching the status and settled back to read reviews and get ready for Monday. Well, wouldn’t you know it, there was an attempt today! No word it was on the truck or anything. That was at 13:29. [...] My iPad is “officially” in Anchorage! According to UPS tracking info, and information from FlightAware, the package was on UPS80, a 747-400 that arrived at PANC at 07:27. I’ve looked at the information, after an hour, and my guess is they won’t even put it on the truck today. However, if I see a change in status, I’ll definitely make a run for the office. It would be worth a gamble, just in case. [...] | |
