Don Jose’s for lunch![]() Don Jose's Anchorage Alaska We went to Don Jose’s for lunch today. Sorry, before you ask, I forgot to take pictures until it was too late. I had the taco and enchilada lunch special. Laura had the beef tostada and chicken enchilada. Both were good, but I think mine was better. Both were reasonably priced for lunch. The chips were good, and one of the better ones compared around town. (Laura likes the chips at Chili’s; I think La Mex or Carlos are the best.) The spicy salsa, as well as the mild were both tasty. Hot in the little dish, mild in the larger one. The meals arrived very quickly, which was a plus since I don’t usually have a lot of time for lunch. I was hungry, but that didn’t make the meal better than it was. I ate the taco first, and was impressed by the beef. It was a texture between ground beef and shredded beef. I ordered the beef enchilada as well, and it was the same consistency. Upon closer inspection, it was (I think) actually shredded beef that was very finely cut. Hey, maybe a food processor was involved… but in any event, a more flavor-able “texture” across the palette. The refries were good, but a bit “sloppy”. They smother in American and Mozzarella cheeses. The rice, reminded me of some canned spanish rice. There was a healthy portion of peas scattered throughout. Sorry, I’ll take the beans, please. I had to devour a few more chips during the meal (they were that good, with a sprinkle of salt). Service was decent, and refills on the drinks were timely. (Pepsi, no Coke!) All in all, I didn’t leave hungry. I was a nice lunch, and a good time to get away from the office. Price was reasonable. We’ll probably go back, and the next time request a table on the deck (in the summer, of course.) | ||||||
