I have to admit, it was quite the event, and an experience I won't soon forget. I will start by admitting I really didn't know what it was when I won. I hadn't really heard of the movie, series, books, etc. But while I really didn't care for the movie, the "event" was awesome! Being on the "inside". I certainly didn't realize what this meant, or what was in store when I was contacted by Amazon. I can only say it was a chance of a lifetime. Everyone was wonderful. The actors I talked to (Rob was about the only one that I at least didn't get to say "hi" to; he was mobbed constantly), none were stuck up or snobby. They are just real people. The opportunity to attend the event, walk the red carpet, be on the "other" side of the fence from all the fans, was something of a dream. The after party was even more awesome. You really had a chance to mingle with the stars. There were a lot of actors attending, "just because" I guess. :P I really am fortunate to have won, and while I didn't get a lot of photos, sure did have a great time, with memories of a lifetime. The trip so many of us were drooling over? I went out to Forks, WA in Sept for Stephenie Meyer Day aka Bella's birthday. It was wonderful, but I love most anything Twilight related. I have seen New Moon 3 times so far, would have gone a couple other times, but I got asked to tend a couple grand children, so couldn't go. I was in line midnight opening night to see it the first time along with several other adult friends. I think the saga is a great means of encouraging anyone who feels his/her short comings are insurmountable and that no one could possibly accept him/her because of those short comings. Bella & Edward both fit in this category and while they may be fictional, since the story evolved from someone's thoughts, dreams, and life experiences, they can come true. (Not the vampire stuff of course, who would want that to come true?) But overcoming one's weaknesses, being loved gaining strength and helping others - isn't that what life should be about? If this was read by just one of the MILLIONS of literally crazy Twilight fans (Twihards), you would almost instantly be inundated with pleas, offers, bribes, and loads of hatemail. You hold a highly coveted prize! To say there is an obsessed following of the Twilight series is an understatement. At least a dozen of the teenage girls I teach and mentor fall into that catagory, and I've recently had to ban Twilight talk and music during class (now you know where I get my facts ;)). The books are poorly written but entertaining to the bored housewife or daydreamy teenager (wish I could write a poorly written but entertaining book and sold it millions!). I do have to clear my name as a Twilight "junkie" though. Yes, I succumbed to peer pressure, but no, I'm not member of the newest religious craze "Cullenism". Be prepared for a corny teenage drama! They filmed most of the first movie here in the Gorge. You know that beauiful vista at Crown Point we visited while you were here, across the river in Washington from that for about six months. It was all you heard about in the news, etc. In fact, when the weather was too stormy here, they filmed Bella's bedroom scenes at our local Highway Department shed. So we were famous here for a year or so with the filming of the first movie. The second one you'll view in LA was filmed in Vancouver, Canada of course and italy. All for now!
