Two days after the release… I’m still licking my wounds.
Been watching the build-up and hype for weeks. At the announcement, to my (and a lot of folks) surprise, there was no pre-orders. This is unlike the release last year of the first gen iPad.

Droid in the house!

Well, curiosity about Android finally got the better of me. More so, that curiosity was prompted by a call from ACS that said I could have a “free” Milestone. This is the US CDMA version of the Verizon Droid for small carriers, including Alaska Communications.

Wiki SPAM!!!

I was quite surprised to find my server had been somewhat “compromised” so to speak. I was always focused on fighting spam in email, but overlooked other vulnerabilities.

Occasionally I would happen to notice strange wiki entry references in the logs. I never put two and two together until today. I used group permissions to override the default “unauthenticated user” and only permit those authorized users to post.

Back to the iPad

Revisiting the iPad… Not that I have forgotten, or otherwise haven’t used this device, I thought more along the lines of “how” I use it.

So, after all this time, I find that I don’t use 3G. I didn’t even “subscribe” this last month, and barely used tens of megabytes out of the 2GB I receive for $25USD from AT&T.

Arvel Bird at the Inter-Tribal Gathering

I went to the Alaska Native Heritage Center this afternoon. On the bill was Arvel Bird. I saw him at the Mohican Pow-wow back in September in Loudenville, Ohio. When I met him, I mentioned being from Alaska. He said he would be in Alaska sometime in mid-November. He wasn’t sure of the location at the time, and we parted ways.

t was a beautiful, bright full moon last night. Couldn’t sleep and went outside about 02:20. It was almost bright as daylight!

A bit of shopping – Prime Outlet Mall, Grove City, PA

Been a nice vacation so far… Arrived after an almost full day of travel from Anchorage to East Liverpool. The flight actually isn’t bad, except for the plane change in Phoenix. Seems like it is a mad dash from the end of one terminal, to the end of another. Oh well…

iPad Apps Disappear On Sync

The other night, I decided to follow along with the iPad Today Podcast as they highlighted several new apps. I downloaded a few freebies, and even sprung a couple of bucks for two others. They worked fine and enhanced the iPad experience.

The next morning before work, I decided to sync the phone and iPad, to make sure I backed up the new apps. I didn’t notice anything with the phone, but something caught my eye when syncing the iPad.
I was prompted to select if I wanted to Transfer purchases from the iPad to iTunes. Yes, thank you. I didn’t pay much attention, but noticed they were being downloaded to the MBP. I did an extra step to arrange the new icons via iTunes.

iPhone 4 – Issues and Resolution

Yes, I am a bit late to the party. It was a ‘wait and see’, followed by a bit of research before I purchased a factory unlocked phone. This followed the path of unlocked phones to use with my carrier, GCI, here in Alaska.
