Testing offline blog software

I’ve been looking for software to allow me to post to my blog without using the (cumbersome) web admin interface. My goal, more specifically, is “free” software to accomplish this task.
So I found a post from 2009… Trying Qumana. We’ll see how this test goes. If you have any suggestions, they are much appreciated. Please leave a comment…

Upgraded 17″ MacBook Pro to Snow Leopard

I suppose I could / should have done a full erase and clean install, and can always do that if I experience problems. I took the easy (read that, lazy) way out and just inserted the Install DVD and went to work.

It took just a bit over an hour to install Snow Leopard. Of course, on the surface I don’t see anything different, but will poke around and check out the subtle differences (if there is much to find.) The new build does take a considerably smaller footprint (about 3GB less than 10.5) and is quite snappy. At $29USD you shouldn’t pass it up for your Intel based Mac.

Snow Leopard Available August 28

Ok, what we die hard Mac fans have been waiting for, the next release of OS X! Today I received two emails, one directly from Apple this morning (Alaska time) and this afternoon from MacMall. Both announced ‘pre-order now’ to get your copy on Friday the 28th. Of course, I plopped down the $29 to Apple (which included shipping.) So, run, don’t walk and pre-order your copy of 10.6.

Internet Outage – Gee, thanks ACS!

Well, “stuff” happens. I have been very pleased over the years with my ACS DSL service. I use this to connect this server to the world. It’s not the fastest but has been, for the most part, very reliable. But nothing is perfect.

Tonight, somewhere between 17:52 and 17:57 there was a total Internet blackout. I thought it must be me, but other than resetting the DSL modem didn’t do much until I checked a bit further. A server failure in Seattle was impacting all of ACS’s Internet customers.

Tekkeon TekCharge MP2250 Battery Pack – First Impression

I purchased the Tekkeon MP2250 along with the Cradlepoint PHS300 from 3GStore.com. Until now, I haven’t had the time to use the external battery pack. This is a lithium polymer battery pack, supplying 5V with 25.9 Wh output power. I am thoroughly impressed with the performance.

Not everyone gets to be an astronaut when they grow up

And so it goes… This is one of my favorite scenes from the Trailer Park Boys. Probably because I wear glasses and can relate.

Cradlepoint PHS300 – Battery improvement

I’ve been using the “new” router a couple of days. Today, I did the first test on battery power. The Cradlepoint PHS300 ran a full 2:40! Impressive performance!

Cradlepoint PHS300 – Update #2

Hey, all I can say, they were good to their word. To me, that speaks volumes. Actually I *LOVE* Cradlepoint and the 3GStore.com

Tethering the iPhone 3G 3.0

iPhone 3.0 advertised tethering as one of the enhancements. I searched Google to find out how to configure and saw many blogs and posts, either folks saying it works great, or not at all. But when I looked at my unlocked 3G from Hong Kong, I didn’t have the tethering option. I even went to the “3″ site in Hong Kong to see if they had instructions. As a matter of fact they did, but had to go to help.benm.at to get it working.

Earthgrooves – Valediction

Earthgrooves, Valediction… Cool jazz / new age music from Vol. 2. First heard this one at EarthTV.com. You should definitely check out that site for views from around the world.
I found the music using Shazam, and found the album on the iTunes Store. Worth giving a listen and adding to your collection!
